Third Trimester Style
How to dress an inflating balloon
We are nearing the end of my second pregnancy (God, please, any day now!), and while I’ve been very chronically off-Substack for most of it, I felt I owed it to my own memory-keeping heart to chronicle a few of my late third-trimester outfits. I am fully resolved to share no more of these because I have given up on coming up with fresh ways to look cute and am now (at 37 weeks) just wearing the same three or four dresses over and over again.
Dressing the bump has been so FUN this time around though! I bought absolutely zero “maternity” clothing items this entire pregnancy, but treated myself to a few stretchy Doen dresses (secondhand, of course) and a breezy black cotton dress from If, Only If that will work for both my hugely pregnant and freshly postpartum body.
Very luckily for me, the weather in Chicagoland this spring/summer has been refreshingly cool and sunny, with lots of 60 degree mornings and mid-70 degree afternoons. Ideal weather for walking 3+ miles a day and checking out your cute bump in every store window reflection!
So if you’re pregnant (or hoping you will be soon), here is a little third trimester inspo from one preggo lady with a very round belly:
